Affairs of the HeartA Woman's Heart

Specific Facts, Specific Needs, Specific Approaches

It is an unfortunate truth that women still consider heart disease a "man's disease." In fact, heart disease is the #1 killer of American women.

"A Woman's Heart" consists of a fact sheet; a risk assessment and a CPR & Heart Attack Warning Signs wallet card, all specifically designed for women. The committee hopes to awaken women to the need to take heart disease seriously. Women must protect their hearts before they reach menopause. Choosing a healthy lifestyle will help protect the heart. The only way for a woman to control heart disease is to take personal control over her lifestyle choices.

The Affairs of the Heart™ Committee of Columbia University Medical Center, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital extends our sincere gratitude to the following organizations for their contribution to "A Woman's Heart".

The Proctor & Gamble Company
U.S. Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer, Co.
Bayer Corporation, Inc. — Pharmaceutical Division
Hoechst Marion Roussel
Merck & Co., Inc.

It is only with the support from companies like these that the Affairs of the Heart™ Committee can help education women about America's #1 killer of women, heart disease.
