Situated within the Division of GI/Endocrine surgery, our endocrine surgery programs are centered around a multidisciplinary team approach, and are dedicated to comprehensive and compassionate care of patients. Our endocrine surgeons specialize in treating disorders of the adrenal, pancreas, parathyroid, and thyroid glands. Our goal is to provide our patients with early detection of these disorders, and the most advanced surgical techniques available to treat them. This is exemplified by our institutional commitment to minimally invasive procedures. Whenever possible, we employ minimally invasive thyroid and parathyroid surgery and laparoscopic adrenal and pancreatic surgery, so that we can offer patients the potential of minimal scarring, dramatically reduced recovery times, and a quicker return to full activity. In order to achieve outstanding results, care is delivered by a dedicated group of multidisciplinary healthcare providers who are leaders in the classification and treatment of endocrine disorders, including experienced endocrinologists, surgeons, surgical nurses, radiologists, pathologists, and ophthalmologists. Our surgeons actively participate in research and clinical trials with the goal of enhancing patient care and outcomes. We also continue to push the boundaries of non-invasive care with our clinical research. We work closely with the New York Thyroid Center, which was founded at Columbia by pioneering thyroid and parathyroid surgeon, Dr. Paul LoGerfo. The Center is dedicated to providing superior medical care and education for patients with thyroid disease. The Center includes specialists who research causes and treatments, as well as develop prevention programs for thyroid and parathyroid diseases. In addition to pioneering in surgery, we seek to provide our patients with the tools and information that will assist them in playing an active role in their care-so together we can make strides to successfully combat diseases of the endocrine system. |
